Performance and Power
The battery-powered Charger Daytona comes in two variants: a 496-hp R/T as well as a 670-hp Scat Pack. They sport an identically sized 100.5-kilowatt-hour battery pack and distribute power to all four wheels via two electric motors. The R/T can hit 60 miles per hour in just 4.7 seconds and complete a quarter-mile track in 13.1 seconds while the Scat Pack can sprint to 60 mph in a mere 3.3 seconds and finish the quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds.
The Charger Goes Electric
“The Charger Daytona variants weigh considerably more than their internal combustion counterparts.”
As the Charger transitions to electric, there are a few implications to consider. The Daytona variants, for instance, weigh around 5,835 pounds without a driver. Taking into consideration the range, the lower-powered R/T actually fares better with 317 miles compared to 260 miles for the power-packed Scat Pack.
Drive Modes
The Charger Daytona Scat Pack comes with a pair of trick drive modes: Drift and Donut. As their names suggest, the former sends more power to the rear wheels for slides while the latter locks up the front wheels and allows the back tires to spin.
PowerShot Functionality
There is also a PowerShot functionality, which is controlled by a button mounted on the steering wheel. This feature unlocks an additional 40 horsepower for 15 seconds on R/T and Scat Pack models.
TRACK PACK FEATURES
Going with the top-tier Charger Daytona Scat Pack with the added Track Pack offers dual valve adaptive dampers and 16-inch Brembo brakes with six-piston front calipers and four-piston rears.
The New Interior
The new Charger’s interior is driver-focused. The center stack is tilted towards the driver with a 12.3-inch UConnect 5 infotainment screen displaying various data. A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster is standard while a 16-inch cluster screen is also available.
Customization
The Charger offers ambient lighting with 64 color and intensity adjustments, providing a high level of customization.
Final Thoughts
The Charger Daytona EVs are the most complete electric muscle cars we’ve seen from a US automaker. It’s time to adapt to the electrification of the automobile industry.
